Quarterly Agency Retreats

Most agency owners give the agency their days, their evenings and most of their weekends, and the business still grows only as fast as they can carry it. Every three months, the mastermind takes you away from that. You stay one night with the rest of your cohort, and the retreat runs three workshops, away from client calls and daily decisions.

What the quarterly retreat is

Program Overview

Most owners are still the best operator in their own agency, and that is exactly why the agency cannot grow past them. Every decision waits for you, and every client wants you on the call. Building the business gets only the hours that client work leaves over, which is usually none.

The quarterly retreat gives you time away from that. Every three months, members leave the daily work and stay one night together, and the retreat runs three workshops. The rest of the mastermind keeps the work moving week to week. The retreat is when the whole cohort steps away from it together, with owners whose agencies also depend on them.

It is also a simple test. If the agency cannot run for one night without you, you learn exactly where it still depends on you. The rest of the year is built to change that. The aim of the mastermind is that you lead the business, not do all of its work yourself.

The workshops are planned for each retreat, not fixed for the year. Each retreat is followed up once you are back, alongside the quarter’s performance review. The retreat is the part of the mastermind where the cohort meets in person, every three months.

One night, every three months

What it is

  • One night together with your cohort
  • Three workshops
  • Followed up once you are back

What it is not

  • The same workshops every time
  • Sold on its own, outside the mastermind
  • A substitute for the weekly work

Who the retreat is for

Who It Is For

The retreat is for mastermind members: owners of digital marketing and software development agencies. What you take from it depends on how you came to run an agency.

  1. You have mastered the craft

The business still runs on you personally. A night away shows you which parts depend on you, and that is where turning a skill into a business starts.

  2. You have left a job to build an agency

You do not yet know which problems are coming. Owners who have already made those mistakes can tell you about them before they cost you money.

  3. You are stuck below your own ability

You are good at the work, but the agency is smaller than your skill should allow. Time away from it with other owners helps you see what is holding it back.

Not ready for a year? The bootcamp is a separate, shorter course, and a single session shows you how the coaches teach, for $125. Start with one session

Time together

Owners away from the desk

Here is how a retreat fits into each quarter of your year.

A retreat in every quarter of your year

What You Get, Step By Step

The fifty two week roadmap runs in four quarters, and a retreat comes every three months. Choose a quarter to see what your agency works on in it, and what the retreat adds.

Choose a quarter

What the agency is building

First quarter: Foundation

The ICP and niche, the full year plan and KPIs, services and pricing packages, the agency website and company formation, LinkedIn and the first data and email work.

The retreat this quarter

One night together with your cohort and three workshops, planned for that retreat, not fixed for the year.

Back at the agency

Each retreat is followed up once you are back, alongside the quarter’s performance review.

What the agency is building

Second quarter: Sales engine

The authority profile, SEO, closing and proposals, Facebook and Google Ads, international expos, staffing, upselling and cross selling, and the blueprints for your deliveries.

The retreat this quarter

One night together with your cohort and three workshops, planned for that retreat, not fixed for the year.

Back at the agency

Each retreat is followed up once you are back, alongside the quarter’s performance review.

What the agency is building

Third quarter: Systems

Vendor management and QA, contracts and the P&L, lead and ticket automation, account management and SLAs, EOS reports, retention and the project management revamp.

The retreat this quarter

One night together with your cohort and three workshops, planned for that retreat, not fixed for the year.

Back at the agency

Each retreat is followed up once you are back, alongside the quarter’s performance review.

What the agency is building

Fourth quarter: Scale and exit

Role empowerment and freeing up your time, the mindset and lifestyle check, the portfolio and case studies, the final reviews of the whole agency system, and how an exit works.

The retreat this quarter

One night together with your cohort and three workshops, planned for that retreat, not fixed for the year.

Back at the agency

Each retreat is followed up once you are back, alongside the quarter’s performance review.

The quarter’s subjects are covered in the weekly work of the mastermind. The three retreat workshops are planned separately for each retreat, so they are not tied to the subjects listed above.

In person, one night every three months

Delivery Format And Time Commitment

The mastermind runs remotely from week to week. The retreat is when members meet in person, because some of the work is better with everyone in the same place.

What it asks of you

  • One night away, every three months

In person, with the rest of your cohort.

  • An agency that can run without you for a night

If it cannot yet, that is the first problem to work on this quarter.

  • The follow up once you are back

Each retreat is followed up, so what you worked on turns into changes at the agency.

What it gives back

  • Three workshops, away from the daily work

Planned for each retreat, not repeated from the last one.

  • A night with owners who face the same problem

Other owners at your stage, in the same markets.

  • A check on the quarter

The quarter’s performance review sits alongside the follow up.

FAQs

What do the retreat workshops cover?

They are planned for each retreat, not fixed for the year. The year’s subjects are covered quarter by quarter in the weekly work. The three retreat workshops are planned separately for each retreat.

Is the retreat included in the mastermind fee?

Yes. A retreat every three months is part of the mastermind at $750 a month or $7,999 a year. The same fee covers daily Basecamp, the Friday session, one to one coaching when you need it, the monthly roundtable and the international trip.

Can I attend a retreat without joining the mastermind?

No. The retreat runs only for the mastermind cohort, because much of its value comes from the other owners who attend. If you are not sure a year is right for you, the signup form asks your stage and we reply with the programme that fits.

What happens after a retreat?

Each retreat is followed up once members are back, alongside the quarter’s performance review. That way, what the workshops raised becomes work on the agency.

How is the retreat different from the international trip?

The retreat comes every three months: one night together and three workshops. The trip comes once a year, international, for two to three nights.

How is the retreat different from the roundtable?

The roundtable is monthly, in the third week, in the Friday slot, with two hand picked owners in the hot seat. The retreat is every three months, in person and overnight, with the whole cohort and three workshops.
